Farmers Market & Other Festivals

Laura is extremely supportive of continuing Farmers Market and other festivals

The La Mesa Village Association (LMVA) - a group of dedicated business owners/volunteers - work tirelessly and creatively to bring events, income and positive press to Downtown La Mesa. Their two crown events are La Mesa's famous Oktoberfest (billed as the largest Oktoberfest west of the Mississippi) and Holiday in the Village. In the last two years they have also brought the Farmers Market to the Boulevard which was an instant hit with La Mesa residents and La Mesa visitors. Sensitive to Downtown businesses, Laura supports moving Farmers Market from Friday to another day.

As a member of the city council, Laura will be extremely supportive of continuing the above events plus the Summer Car Show, Sundays at Six Concerts and bringing even more festivals to all La Mesa.

These events benefit all La Mesans by putting La Mesa on the map, earning revenue and attracting people seeking a quality community to live in and love.

She has outside-the-box ideas like working with La Jolla Golf Cart Company where the owner will pay the sales tax (a savings of $1000!) to La Mesa residents interesting in buying and driving street-legal golf carts.

La Mesa is well structured for these fun, whimsical vehicles, they're less polluting than cars and add a decidedly ritzy vibe to the community (think Catalina and Coronado!)

Laura would love to join forces with La Mesa Beautiful and create a "Garden District" in La Mesa liked the famed Garden District of New Orleans.

She would love to finally see a La Mesa Village gateway sign like the ones enjoyed by the Gaslamp, Hillcrest, Normal Heights, El Cajon, etc.
